Hand made paper roses and glass bottle & jars vase.

Here it another craft item that I created.  This time I recycled glass honey jars and a small bottle.  To begin with first I took some sequined laces and wrapped it round the glass bottle and placed flowers in it.  It was quite simple and effortless.

The next thing I did was I took two empty honey mini-jars.  I just wrapped brown satin fabric around it and secured it with embroidery stitches on it. Then I just put a lace trimming near the top part of the jar.  The red roses placed in one of the jar are hand made from paper.  You just need to cut strips of one inch and keep folding them as your turn in round the centre of the flower.

Paper roses on a dried twig

The other day I happened to see a tutorial of how to make roses out of paper strips. I had made few roses and stuck it to a recycled tissue box.  Since the paper making flower bug bit me, I decided to make more roses.  I made roses out of red colour paper.  After making these roses I needed to place them on a stand or in a vase. Now I did not have any spare vase but I had some empty bottle which was washed and dry from inside.  I stepped out in the garden and the weather was sweltering hot during the summer.  I saw so many dried and dead plants and shrubs; half of the garden was dried up without any greenery left.  I plucked out one of the dried twigs and felt let us make it alive again.
I grabbed a cellophane tape and stuck the paper roses around the dried twig. It looked pleasing to me and I placed the twig in the glass bottle. See the below pictures of the paper roses on a dried twig.

Recycle your empty tissue box into a vintage box

Well the other day I had some free time on my hand and I wanted to do some creative stuff.  But i did not know from where to begin.  I started clearing my desk and while I was cleaning I came across this empty tissue box. Now I have always thrown away empty tissue boxes and this time since i wanted to kill time with creativity I decided to recycle this tissue box.
I looked around and grabbed some A4 size colour paper that was not being used by me since a long time. I grabbed a cellophane tape and staplers. This was what i had with me.
I picked up pink coloured paper and cut them into strips and started making paper roses out of them. I must have made nearly ten roses out of the coloured paper.
The next thing i took was some cream coloured paper and covered the empty tissue box with it.
I glued and stapled the roses on the boxes and i wanted to give it a feel of vintage.  I felt something was missing. Hmm. Finally i took a black paper and cut it out in the shape of a black bird and just perched it atop the roses on the box and voila! I made an empty tissue box into a reusable box.  I kept few things in it and everyone admires it when they see it. Here are two images of the box that I recycled

Just Dance..Dance. NO... not Lady Gaga's song..
Not just any dance. But you have got to see the way they dance.. Amazing! Just like they have springs in their feet and rubber body so slender bender....lol
“Great dancers aren't great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion.”
Watch the video to believe it.

Too blind to notice!!!

Beauty indeed lies in the eyes of the beholder!!!
But many times beauty is mislead.

Distorted Beauty..
The beholder is truly blind in this case..Watch this video to see it.. lol

WASTE OF RESOURCES FOR GREED AND PROFIT!

If something is not useful to a person they shouldn’t waste it off, it would be rather generous of them to donate to some needy people without bothering about their profit.
With so many people in need of bare necessities during recession.. It is hard to see biggies like H&M's and Wal-Mart destroying unsold clothes for their profits.. There are so many NGO’s who need help from big organizations who can shell out to help the poor and needy people. This news appeared in almost all the newspapers.
The Haiti Earthquake is the worst way to begin a new year for anyone. In times of calamity, financial downturn and economical fall it is necessary for everyone to be responsible and not waste resources.
In another shocking news the famous book outlet BORDERS has been planning to tear off unsold books so that they won’t be resold again because Waldenbooks will be closing down. It seems it is a practice in the industry to destroy unsold items rather than donating it. So their employees who protested against this have started a facebook group called Tell
BORDERS: DO NOT DUMPSTER BOOKS when Waldenbooks closes - DONATE!
http://donatenotdumpster.blogspot.com/2010/01/not-just-books-last-week-i-had-to.html
Books are not clothes to be dumped and torn like what Wal-Mart did.. Why insult knowledge rather than spread and donate it. BORDERS can donate it to people or sell it at a sale price, but why destroy.

Finally, the news say that BORDERS had to agree to the public pressure they received to donate the books. They have now partnered with Gifts In Kind International to donate the books. Gifts In Kind International has many networks for charity.
But the saddest part is when Waldenbooks closes down several of their employees would lose their jobs.

Click here -->The Bridge Game

Time out!!! Take a break to rack your brains and solve this puzzle.
This game reminds me of the old story - Two silly goats trying to cross a narrow bridge.
Click on the Title link (The Bridge Game) to solve this puzzle and read the rules to it below. ::
Rules for this game:
It is night, So you must have a fire lamp.
Each person crosses the bridge at a different speed with their sweet own time.
[1-sec] [3-sec] [6-sec] [8-sec] [12-sec]
Only 1 or 2 person can pass the bridge at a time and not three together.
A pair must walk together at the rate of the slower person.
The FIRE LAMP is enough for 30-sec only!!!!
So have fun and solve this puzzle.

What’s on your mind this year?

I would like to welcome you all to this new blog…

To begin with……Since it is the New Year 2010… I thought of starting my own blog when I posted this blog on another forum. The idea dawned on me why not have my own blog :)

What’s on your mind this year? A new year to start with and no more New Year resolutions.. Resolutions are but obvious to be broken at some point during the year. Before the New Year began… I thought to myself last December.. Should I have a new year’s resolution? Have a good diet plan.. Do more exercises, workouts.. Maintain a good budget planner for this Recession..? It is good to have a disciplined life, but then I know at some point during the year I will splurge on something expensive, or eat a lavish meal or skip my exercises. Naaa!!!! Not at all…So I decided to just be myself this year again. Take each day as it comes. Face new challenges in life.. Who knows what lies in store for us each month and day in a year. On the first day of the year people usually tend to read horoscopes and yearly predictions. The New Year has just begun and days are already passing so fast that now January will soon be over. Valentine’s Day will come soon next month.. Soon all will be seeing cards, gifts, eateries all over the place in the market all friends from college and school are now settled in far and distant countries.. It’s hard to have get-together like the old days. Every-thing is now virtual and online. That’s the only option left to keep in touch with all. So finally let’s take each day as it comes and live life for the present.

There are three categories of people in terms of the past present future:

• People at times tend to worry a lot about the future forgetting that they need to live for the present.

• People who live for the present and forget completely about the future

• People who usually think only about the past and forget about their present and future. In my opinion there should be a balance of the three categories.

People should not forget about the present and live for the moment cause the present tense means a ‘gift by God’ in other words so live for the present moment People should also not forget about the future cause what actions you do in your present will definitely affect your future. People need not ponder over the past life experiences, but yes we can learn from our past experiences be it good or bad and take the necessary precautions in life to make a better present and future. May God bless all the people and Wish you all a prosperous new year 2010 ahead!!

Cheers
